Emma Berou is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Any personal information you share — including your name, contact details, and details about your family circumstances — will be collected and processed solely for the purpose of providing peer support services.

Your data will be stored securely, will not be shared with any third parties without your explicit consent — other than the service providers described under Website & Spam Protection below, and in the circumstances set out under Confidentiality & Safeguarding — and will be retained only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected. You have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of your personal data at any time.

Website & Spam Protection

This website is hosted by Netlify. Messages sent through the contact form are delivered and stored by Netlify's form service before reaching me by email. Netlify acts as a data processor on my behalf and does not use your information for its own purposes.

The contact form is also protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which distinguishes genuine visitors from automated spam. When you use the form, Google receives your IP address and technical information about your browser, and may set cookies. This is carried out by Google under its own privacy policy and is necessary for the security of this website. No details about you or your family circumstances are shared with Google.

Confidentiality & Safeguarding

All discussions are treated as confidential. However, in line with my duty of care and safeguarding responsibilities, I am obliged to disclose information without your consent if I believe that a child or young person is at risk of significant harm, or if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others.

In such circumstances, information may be shared with the relevant statutory agencies (such as children's social care or the police) in order to ensure safety. This is consistent with the Children Act 1989, the Children Act 2004, and statutory safeguarding guidance.

I will always endeavour to discuss any concerns with you first, unless doing so would place a child or vulnerable person at further risk.
